Citrus Limon Zagara Bianca
Citrus Limon, native to India and Indochina, is defined as an evergreen plant in the Rutaceae family. The White Zagara Lemon Plant, a particularly valuable variety of Citrus Limon, is typically Sicilian. The White Zagara has abundant flowering and consequently a consistent production of Fruits. The fruit of the lemon botanically called hesperidium, is elliptical in shape, yellow in color and has a tip called an umbo. The skin is thick and is rich in glands that contain very fragrant essential oils. The White Zagara lemon tree can reach a maximum height of 6 meters (20 feet) and has irregular, thorny branches. The lemon tree does not require systematic pruning, and therefore cuts are usually related to special needs, such as the removal of parts affected by diseases such as dry rot and to aerate particularly dense crowns. Low-impact solutions in an organic cultivation is that of adequate nutrition, without excess, lightening of the foliage if it is too thick, and watering only under the canopy, which does not wet the aerial part. In some cases, the White Zagara Plant is affected by Dry Sickness, a fungal disease that affects the internal conducting vessels leading to the drying up of the plant or even part of it. Defense against the White Zagara lemon's mal secco, has always been difficult, so much so that the only real solution is genetic resistance, and thus the choice of resistant or tolerant varieties. Lemons, contrary to what one might think, do not create the inconvenience of stomach acidity that can be caused by high consumption of oranges instead: on the contrary, they have a balsamic effect on the stomach and are very healthy. They are also very rich in vitamin C, which not only prevents the flu but also helps in the assimilation of iron. Lemons are also used a lot in cosmetics and perfumery, as well as in the preparation of the well-known limoncello liqueur, which can also be made at home. A bit unusual, but definitely worth trying, is lemon marmalade.
